To the Shelter”

Here is a word for you from the Word.

Psalm 11:1

In the LORD I take refuge. How then can you say to me: “Flee like a bird to your mountain.” NIV

What is your place of refuge? Are you disturbed when people challenge you? Are you disturbed when you look at the uncertainty of a situation that we live in today?

Jesus told us at the close of this age we’d hear of wars and rumors of wars. That men’s hearts would fail them for fear, for looking for the things that are coming on the earth. In such times as these, we need a refuge. David said, “In the LORD I take refuge.”

And then he challenged those who questioned whether the Lord was an adequate refuge. He said, “How can you say to me: ‘Flee like a bird to your mountain.’” He was saying, in effect, There’s no mountain that will shelter you. There’s no man-made shelter, there’s no man-made place of security which can guarantee you protection. There’s only one place of protection, one adequate refuge, but that’s in the Lord.

“In the LORD I take refuge.” I don’t look merely to human sources, to the material world, to finance, to other provisions of that kind for my refuge, for my security. My security is in the Lord.

Have you ever proved the Lord as your refuge? Do you know what it means to take refuge in the Lord? I want to commend to you the Lord as a place of refuge. - Derek Prince
